My sweet baby

I had forgotten what a great age one year is.

Canon has absolutely amazed me, especially these last couple weeks. He just turned a year old about three weeks ago, but the kid is a hoot.

He has his brother's sense of humor, has the most beautiful smile, cutest giggle, and LOVES his mommy.

Some of my favorite Canonisms as of late:

*On Christmas Day I was holding Ty down for a good old fashioned tickle party, and Canon couldn't help but get involved. At first he just sat there and laughed at us. Then, he would reach in and "tck tck tck" with his fingers on Ty's chest. It was hillarious.

*He loves to walk reeeeally fast. Its the cutest when he is right out of the bath and naked, without a diaper his rhythm is thrown off and he walks like a drunk man.

*He has learned to annoy Ty. Its SO funny to watch him sneak up to Ty while he is playing with his electric train, wait for the train to come close to him and Canon scoops it up and takes off. Ty freaks out. Its so funny.

*He has started really verbalizing his needs. He says "eat, eat, eat", points to his mouth (the sign language sign for eat) and runs toward the kitchen. He even knows where what he wants is. He will pat the fridge or the pantry, depending on what he wants.

*He has FINALLY started using the signs we have been using for 6 months. He wasnt really getting it, we didnt think, and just in the last month or so he has started with please, eat, more, all done and drink. SO cute.

*He is SOOO cuddley. I didnt think they could get much more so than Ty (he still is a cuddler), but Canon will sit in my lap and lay his head on my shoulder, tired or not. He is even hugging, but only when its bed time.

*He LOVES to read books. I guess since we do that so much with Ty, he has learned the word "book" and "read". We can say, "You want to read a book?". He will go to the book cabinet in our entertainment center, get the firetruck book mom got Ty for Christmas, turn around with his rear toward me and back up til he gets to my lap. He will actually sit and turn the pages, and force laughter at every page. Its great.

*Oh, and the kid is REALLY wanting to talk all out. He will look at you and babble incoherently, with hand motions, facial expressions, pointing, laughing..the whole bit. Its hysterical. He will go on forever, and I swear he is trying to say something REALLY witty. He also has mastered a few words that we can understand, i.e., "teeta" (thankyou), "eatssss" (eat), "pssssss" (please), "Tyty", "Dada", and my personal favorite, "Mama" - which he says very quick and with a very flat inflection, which is so funny.

The other night he went into the office and pushed the door closed, locking himself inside in the dark. He didnt panic, he just patted the door and said, "mama.mama.mama.mama." This kid is gonna handle stress well.

Okay, I feel guilty for going on and on about kid #2, but I will give Ty his due another day (the kid is a riot ...he cracks us up on a regular basis).
