So Canon has really started talking up a storm. He is crackin' me up lately with his use of his command words like, 'eat" "go!" "out" "mine!" (this is anything he likes, has touched at any point in time, or wants right now regardless of the former) "milk" (this is generic for any form of liquid that you would want to drink), "help" all to which he adds the word "now!"
He uses these all regularly when he is hungry. He initiates this cascade of need-meeting by saying with great emphasis, "EAT!" then he goes to the fridge, or pantry and "nanananana" until we figure it out, then he claps and jumps to the degree that there is no doubt we have hit on the right thing. We tell him to get in his "seat" and sit down. He climbs up there and waits not so patiently for us to do his bidding. He reminds us with frequent "eat! eat! eat NOW!". If we take too long we get an "eat NOW, GO!". He reminds us he needs his drink, "Milk!". When he is done, he says so with a double sign and word couplet, "done!".
"Go!" also accompanies anything that he wants, that involves us. He wants us "GO!" read a book, "GO" help him the bath, "GO!" help him do anything.
He also surprises us with words like "buckle" (car seat), "cracker", and "cookie", and todays biggie "BUBBLE". Then we get the occasional clear "I dont want it!" Usually he is in brother-induced stress to use this one.
Has been mixing his jibberish with words we know, which cracks me up. He will be working on something like getting a toy from a tight spot or something, he will walk up to me, "MAMA! blah blah blah HELP! blah blah blah NOW!"
Or "Mama! Blah blah, DONE blah blah OUT blah NOW"
And, we shall not forget the use of "no!" and to the dog, "no no" ..which looks as cute as it sounds.
Yes, we do clarify when its okay to use that and not (i.e., NOT to mommy) and we are working on saying "please" instead of "now!"
OH, and I almost forgot one of my favorites .."whoa" which he says appropriately when he starts to fall, stumbles, or sees something that fascinates him.
But, its sweet as pie to hear his sweet words. Until he learns "why?"
