The Zoo

We have been SUPER blessed lately, to get to spent a little time away from home lately ...a much needed and appreciated break, after a record of a year and half of not leaving town!

The weekend after Labor Day (Labor Day was fulled up and more expensive ...gotta be resourceful) we followed the instructions of our personal travel agent (aka, a friend who has a flair for planning such great events for the benefit of all around here ;) and got to spend a great weekend at Lake Murray, South Carolina.

In order to make the weekend last a bit longer, we started out the day early and stopped off at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC.

As always, this is a great place to get to watch the wonder of discovery through the eyes of a child, or two :) We made this a science and geography lesson!

Canon's favorite was the "effants".  There are several vantage points from which to see them, and you can believe to looked from every angle :)

 We took this one for Audrey, who has a stuffed possum she carries around everywhere :)

The weekend was just getting started, but it was a great start!
