Pre-Zoo

So, we took the babies to the zoo today. It was a little trip, as it was in Columbia, about a 90 minute drive. No biggie, and we thought the kids would have a great time.

We starting building the excitement yesterday (not too early, so that he would go out of his mind and ours with his impatience to go; but late enough for him to get to be excited for alittle bit). So, we showed him how you could watch some of animals on a live-feed webcam on the computer. We watched for the lions all day yesterday (they never cooperated with us, we only looked at their enclosure waiting with bated breath for one of them to suddenly appear..until he gave up and said he was going outside to play).

Apparently, this did not have the effect of getting him excited as we had hoped. Instead, we scared our little guy to death.

I was putting him to bed last night, and asked, "Are you so excited about going to the zoo tomorrow?"

"not really." He replied.

"Why not?" I said, mildly disappointed.

"Cause, those tigers werent in cages and they are just gonna come and eat us!"

O. I hadnt thought about that.

So, I tried to reason with him that there were gates that we couldnt see on the computer. That we were safe and he didnt need to worry about them coming to eat us.

To which he replied, "but, some monster could go and open the gate when we arent looking."

I had this one, "Nope. Remember that monsters are pretend?"

"Yes, but some life forms could go open the gate."

uh.

Well, where did you hear the word 'life forms'?

"God told me."

uh. ok.

Well, then lets pray that God will keep us safe and that NO one will open the gates to the tigers cage, okay?

"Okay."

Good grief. Good save mom.

He was still apprehensive this morning, but he figured it out right away how they couldnt get out of their cages and come 'eat' us. Thank goodness.

Adrian is working on gettin' pics up from the day..so stay tuned!
